Acupressure Therapy
Acupressure is an ancient Chinese healing method that involves applying pressure to certain meridian points on the body to relieve pain. The human body has fourteen "meridians" that carry energy throughout the body. These meridians start at the fingertips, connect to the brain, and then connect to organs associated with the specific meridian. Acupressure uses gentle but firm pressure of hands. Acupressure deals with all the aspects of a person as a whole: body, emotions, mind, spirit as one. It relaxes muscular tension and balances vital life forces of the body.
Fire Cupping Therapy
Cupping is a practice of Chinese medicine recommended mainly for treating bronchial congestion, arthritis, and pain. It is also promoted to ease depression and reduce swelling. Cupping is used to realign and balance the flow of one's vital energy and life force called, Qi or Ch'i, pronounced "kee" or "chee." In the presence of illness or injury, the Ch'i is disturbed and there may be too much or too little at certain points in the body. A flammable substance such as, alcohol is used to flame a cotton ball that is introduced into a glass cup. A vacuum is formed inside the cup and placed upside down over Ch'i pathways according to traditional Chinese medicine which are linked to the client's illness or injury. The cup is usually left in place for 5 to 15 minutes. This suction will open up the skin's pores and create a route for toxins to escape the body. The skin under the cup reddens called, "Shaw" as blood vessels expand. The results will allow your body's natural lymphatic system to process out the toxins to promote healing.
Tui-na Bodywork
In traditional Chinese medicine, the flow of Qi energy, or life force, is fundamental. Various techniques, include kneading, pressing, rolling, acupressure, percussion, and stretching. These techniques aim to balance the flow of Qi through a person, which encourages natural self-healing within the body. The saying goes "When Qi flows, Pain goes." The clients do not need to disrobe during this bodywork. They should wear comfortable clothing i.e active sportswear is a good choice.
